Project Quotation

Macrogen Inc. provides various services to analyze genome by using various approaches such as Shotgun, cDNA, BAC, Cosmid, and Fosmid. The service is supported by using ABI 3730XL capillary sequencer after the library production. Sequencing and library construction can be separately ordered.

STR
Short tandem repeat (STR) analysis is a forensic analysis that evaluates specific regions (loci) that are found on nuclear DNA. The variable (polymorphic) nature of the STR regions that are analyzed for forensic testing intensifies the discrimination between one DNA profile and another.
AFLP
Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphisms (AFLPs) are differences in restriction fragment lengths caused by SNPs or INDELs that generate or eliminate restriction endonuclease recognition sites. The AFLP technique is based on the selective PCR amplification of restriction fragments from a total digest of genomic DNA.

Advantages of AFLPs
- Possibly the most polymorphisms for the cost
- Easy and reliable
- No sequence information required
- Very huge number of polymorphisms per reaction
SRAP
Sequence-related amplified polymorphism (SRAP) provides a useful tool for estimation of genetic diversity and phenetic relationships in natural and domesticated populations.
The potential of the sequence-related amplified polymorphism (SRAP) technique, which preferentially amplifies gene-rich regions, was evaluated to assess the genetic relationships among members of the species.

Advantages of SRAPs
- Low-cost and easy
- Highly reproducible
- Large amount of polymorphic fragments in each reaction
- Don't require to clone anything to mark a locus; primers applicable to any species
- PCR products can be directly sequenced using original primers-no cloning necessary
